About Us

Jim Casteel

Founder/CEO

Casteel & Associates, owned and operated by Jim Casteel, is a leading name in the field of private investigation. Jim serves as the current President of the Alabama Private Investigator's Association (www.apianow.org) and is actively involved with the state regulatory body, The Alabama Private Investigator's Board (www.apib.alabama.gov).

In addition to his role in Alabama, Jim has contributed to the national Association of Missing and Exploited Children and has served on the board of the National Council of Investigation and Security Services. He holds licenses in Alabama (license #31) and Florida, including FL Agency License # A-1400175 and FL Class C License # C-1400356.

Jim pioneered continuing education for Alabama Private Investigators by hosting the first four annual continuing educational conferences in the state. He has shared his extensive knowledge and experience by training investigators across Alabama, Georgia, Texas, and Florida through their respective state associations. Furthermore, he is the primary author of the book 'The Professional Guide For Alabama Private Investigators,' co-authored with Kelly Riddle of San Antonio, TX, and developed with the assistance of Stephen Shaw, a Birmingham attorney. This book now serves as the study guide for the Alabama private investigator's state exam.

Since 1989, Jim has specialized in surveillance services and case strategy, focusing on both domestic investigations and personal injury cases. He has managed a variety of cases in Alabama, including capital murder defense, child custody, internal theft, undercover narcotics operations in industrial settings (in collaboration with grant-funded drug task forces), workplace violence prevention, personal injury fraud, franchise infringement, copyright infringement, stalking cases, counter surveillance, and auto and heavy equipment theft. Notably, Jim has been recognized as an expert witness in covert camera systems by a Federal Judge and has significant experience in the use, sales, and development of covert cameras.

The Professional Guide For Alabama Private Investigator's

THE PROFESSIONAL GUIDE FOR ALABAMA PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS was crafted to equip Alabama private investigators with the necessary training and guidelines to conduct investigations while adhering to legal boundaries. This guide also aids clients in understanding what their expectations from a private investigator should be, and it offers general insights into the private investigation world, including the valuable surveillance services provided by Casteel Associates.

Attorney Stephen Shaw remarked, "This is a great resource for investigators, clients, and attorneys to not only grasp the basics but also to learn from authors with years of experience and successful results."
